Last February 17 President Andrés Manuel López Obrador inaugurated the first stage of the Photovoltaic Power Plant in Mexico, one of the largest in Latin America built by SESELEC in the state of Sonora.
The event was attended by the President of the United Mexican States, Mr. Andrés Manuel López Obrador, the Governor of the State of Sonora, Mr. Alfonso Durazo Montaño, as well as Rocío Nahle, Secretary of Energy, Manuel Bartlett Díaz, General Director of the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) and Luis Cresencio Sandoval González, Secretary of National Defense.
The Puerto Peñasco Phase I Photovoltaic Power Plant is the first stage built by SESELEC that will generate 120 Megawatts and more than 12 Megawatts with battery backup.
More than 278 thousand high efficiency solar panels were used.
The Puerto Peñasco photovoltaic power plant has a high voltage infrastructure including a 115 kV elevating substation, a 25 km 115 kV transmission line and an expansion of the CFE’s Puerto Peñasco 115 kV maneuvering substation.
